Staff at used car hypermarket Carcraft Wednesbury raised £12,500 for charity at their recent annual golf day.
Over 80 people attended the event, including former World Light Heavyweight boxing champion John Conteh
Manheim Car Auctions sponsored the day, which was held Patshull Park Hotel, Golf and Country Club – and included the prize of a £15,000 Volkswagen Golf for anyone who struck a hole on one! Alas, the prize remained unclaimed…
An evening dinner followed, sponsored by Morelli and DeBeer Coatings, and compered by footie legend Don Goodman. Over 110 people raised further funds through an auction and a raffle.
Acorns Childrens hospital is Carcraft Wednesbury’s chosen charity of the year. They have three hospices across the Midlands, which cost £4500 a day to run – each. All donations therefore gratefully received.
But, keen golfers, don’t think you’ve missed out for another year, either. The Wednesbury-based hypermarket is holding another golf day on 31st October, in aid of ‘Wear It Pink – Breast Cancer’ and the local ‘Promised Dreams’ charity. Call Jim Bertram on 07917 683079 for more info.
