Honda is underlining its reputation for reliability by ratcheting up its new car warranty to eight years.
The new warranty will cover a car for a maximum of eight years or 100,000 miles from the date of first registration.
As before, new cars come with a three-year warranty. But, from June 1, 2026, if customers follow the scheduled service and maintenance plan and use an authorised Honda dealership, the warranty is extended by 12 months up to a maximum of eight years or 100,000 miles.
The warranty is attached to the car and not the owner, and offer pan-European coverage.
Announcing the decision, Honda UK said the warranty extension ‘underlines [its] reputation for reliability’.
The move to offer more warranty cover will be seen as Honda taking the fight to the influx of Chinese carmakers arriving in the UK.
Chery, Omoda and Jaecoo offer up to seven years of cover, while BYD provides up to six years of cover.
Honda’s decision puts it more in line with other legacy carmakers such as Kia (seven years) and Mazda, which last year raised its warranty cover to six years. Toyota, Lexus and Suzuki have also introduced 10-year service-activated warranties in recent years.
