Dealer group Lookers has officially opened its first Corvette showroom after agreeing a ‘groundbreaking’ franchise deal with the American brand.
The retailer has begun welcoming customers to its new site in Colchester, which will serve buyers across Essex and the East of England.
To mark the occasion, the firm held a special opening event, which brought together more than 400 Corvette enthusiasts, customers, business partners and members of the local community for an exclusive first look at the site.
Sam Wallis, Lookers’ market area general manager, said: ‘We are delighted to officially open our new Corvette dealership and to welcome so many guests to celebrate this milestone with us.
‘We have created a showroom that reflects the quality, heritage and performance of the Corvette brand, supported by a specialist team committed to delivering an exceptional customer experience, and we look forward to welcoming both lifelong Corvette enthusiasts and those discovering the brand for the first time.’
The latest addition comes as Lookers aims to become the UK’s ‘number one dealer group’.
In its most recent accounts, the firm posted improved profits of £58.5m, following two years under Canadian ownership.
Following the opening of the Corvette site, the retailer now operates 128 dealerships across the UK and Ireland, representing 38 brands.
Reflecting on the opening of the latest site, Phil Yelland, general sales manager, added: ‘The interest in the Corvette range has been exceptional, and we’re excited to introduce more drivers across Essex and the East of England to the Stingray, E-Ray and Z06.
‘We are looking forward to welcoming customers back for test drives and to experience everything the new showroom has to offer.’
