Time 5:57 am, March 24, 2011

beetle-1-smallIF you’ve been looking for the perfect original Volkswagen Beetle to sell – this could well be it!

An auction company is Doncaster is preparing to sell off this original Beetle, with only delivery mileage on the clock, at 6pm tonight.

CVA Auctions boss Jim Ronan says the current owner bought the 1978 model – number 214 of the last 300 ever made for the UK market – as an investment and never registered it.

‘He paid £2,500 for the car,’ Ronan told us. ‘It is a 1200cc silver Jubilee model with a silver plaque stating it’s car number 214 of the last 300.

‘It is in great condition as you would expect and we have all the relevant documentation should someone wish to put it on the road.’

Ronan said serious collectors have been in touch from as far afield as Japan and Germany and there has also been a huge amount of interest from the UK.

He added: ‘I think it will go to a serious collector or maybe even a museum. In my opinion registering it would devalue it. I’m really not sure what it will go for.’

You can register to bid online at www.cva-auctions.co.uk – the Beetle is Lot 060 and the auction starts at 6pm.
