JCT600 ‘is one of the 100 best companies to work for’

Time 10:25 am, January 25, 2016

JCT600 has been named as one of the ‘Best 100 Companies To Work For’ by a national broadsheet.

In its survey result for 2016, the Sunday Times said there were ‘outstanding levels of engagement’ among the 2,300-strong workforce of the family-owned business in Yorkshire.

Built up from a single garage in Bradford 70 years ago by chairman Jack Tordoff, JCT600 now has 50 dealerships throughout Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, and the north-east.

Throughout its dealer network, JCT600 also sells 18 of the world’s most respected car brands, including Aston Martin, BMW, Audi, Bentley, Mini, Ferrari and Mercedes-Benz.

Tordoff, pictured above in our report about JCT reclaiming its original site after 42 years, said: ‘We are incredibly proud to be included in this prestigious ranking for the very first time. It’s been a long but very rewarding journey for us all, and to be recognised in this way by our colleagues is a tremendous achievement.

‘We pride ourselves on being a family business, with strong family values, and whilst the business has grown immeasurably over recent years through acquisition and organic growth, it’s very pleasing to see our new colleagues feel the same way about the business as those who have worked in the business for a very long time indeed. They are all part of the JCT600 family.’

He added: ‘We are well aware that what makes a company great is the people within it, and we put a lot of effort into recruiting candidates with the right skills and attitude, and then into nurturing them so that they stay with us and develop their careers as we grow.

‘In 2015 we appointed 27 new apprentices, and our “Wired” programme is just one of the industry-leading initiatives that we have put in place to help our people develop and feel fulfilled in their jobs.’
