DEALER group Waylands Automotive has added Volvo Cars Swindon to its portfolio.
Having already taken on Volvo Cars Reading in November 2017 and Fawcetts Volvo in Newbury in May 2018, this latest acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, helps Waylands extend its representation of the Swedish brand along the M4 corridor, further strengthening the relationship between the dealer group and the manufacturer.
John O’Hanlon, chief executive of Waylands Automotive, said: ‘We are pleased that we have successfully completed this transaction. Swindon represents a territory with huge potential and is contiguous to our Newbury and Reading market area. We look forward to working with the team at Swindon and meeting our new and existing customers.
‘The two-acre site is in a fantastic location – only two minutes from the M4 and on the hugely busy Great Western Way. With nearly 200 car display and parking spaces, we will be able to showcase all of the fantastic new Volvo products, carry a significant number of used and demonstrator vehicles, and have the capacity and resources to meet all our customers’ expectations.
‘We are now working on plans to fully implement Volvo’s new retail concept VRE on to the site, which will create one of the best motor retail environments in the region.
‘This is another key step in our ambition to add further scale to the business and to realise our stated plan of £100m turnover by 2021.’
