twitterTWO car makers are using new social media campaigns to get customers to engage with their brands.

Suzuki is making a grand entrance onto Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, flickr and Linkedin, while Volvo is giving away an S60 R-Design on Facebook.

Friends of Suzuki will be able to read and respond to current and breaking news, search for images of the models both past and present and view video footage of the cars.

Customers will be able to book a test drive on Facebook

The Suzuki Facebook profile will not only allow friends of Suzuki to view status and news updates, it will also allow them to request a brochure and/or test drive and to locate their nearest dealer.

Rebecca Morrison, national communications manager, said: ‘We are all extremely excited about the social media campaign.  It gives us a unique opportunity to engage in conversations with existing customers and allows us to reach new consumers who may not have had a relationship with the brand in the past.

‘Sites such as Twitter attract 300,000 new users per day so by joining these we are opening up and extending the Suzuki brand to a new audience and can begin to build a lasting relationship with them.’


64324volMeanwhile Volvo Car UK has launched a competition on its Inside Volvo UK Facebook site to find Europe’s greatest drive, as voted for by its fans.

The person who wins the competition will win the UK’s largest ever single giveaway on Facebook – a brand new Volvo S60 R-Design.

‘The Greatest Drive competition isn’t just about trying to find which road is the best in Europe to drive on.  A journey can be much more than the tarmac you ride over.  It can be about the views you take in or the people you are with, an open top 200 mile ride or a thrill seeking two mile blast through the mountains, the choice is down to the individual,’ says the firm.

The competition will run in four phases.

Between June 9 and July 3 2011, fans will have a chance to submit their greatest drive into the competition using Google Maps on Volvo’s Facebook page. Along with the route, the entrant will have the opportunity to explain why they think their drive is the greatest.

Between the July 4 and July 17 2011, a top 10 shortlist of ‘Greatest Drive’ entries will be announced on Inside Volvo UK so they can be can viewed, commented, liked and shared.

From the 18 to July 31, the final three entries will be announced, and then all the voters will be entered into a sweepstake draw to win runners’ up prizes which consist of six pairs of tickets to the ‘The Ultimate Dynamic Driving Day’.

On August 1 the lucky new owner of a brand new Volvo S60 R-Design will be announced.
