SWEDISH brand Volvo has created a brand new television advert showing off its Ocean Race special edition models.
Using the slogan ‘Command the Extreme’, Volvo’s new 30-second TV advert aims to show the expertise the firm has learnt through its Ocean Race activities has been translated to its rugged vehicles for the road.
The advert depicts a man driving a Volvo XC60 Ocean Race edition that then morphs into him at the helm of a Volvo Ocean Race yacht amid stormy weather.
The advert switches between the car and the yacht to the tune of a voice over that says: ‘Everything we learn from the Volvo Ocean Race gives you more control’.
The Volvo Ocean Race is one of, if not the, world’s most gruelling race of its type, featuring nine legs to the four corners of the globe. The 2011-2012 race began in October in Alicante and takes competitors to destinations including South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, China, New Zealand, Brazil, the USA, Portugal and France, before finishing in Galway, Ireland, on July 7 this year. Competitors will face fatigue and extreme weather conditions throughout the marathon race.
Sailing fans can also own a piece of the epic race with Volvo’s range of Ocean Race special editions. Along with the advert’s featured XC60, customers can choose between the Swedish firm’s all-new V60 and the rugged four-wheel-drive XC70.
All Ocean Race models are inspired by the endurance race by being available in a choice of ocean blue or electric silver, feature special interiors, and unique alloy wheels, chrome detailing and Ocean Race badging.
The 30-second TV commercial is live nationally.
