FAMILY-OWNED dealer group Marshall has announced it has streghtened its senior management team and its CEO has been named businessman of the year.
Following the acquisition of Silver Street Automotive, Tim Phillips has been promoted to the newly‐created position of brand director for Marshall’s seven Honda businesses. Meanwhile Stephen Jay has joined the company as brand director for Mercedes‐Benz and Smart, based in the north west.
Marshall has also announced that Peter Cakebread, managing director of Marshall Leasing, has been appointed chairman of the British Vehicle Rental & Leasing Association (BVRLA), a position he will hold for two years.
Richard Baird, also of Marshall Leasing, has been appointed to the board of directors for the Association of Car Fleet Operators (ACFO), an organisation which he has served for over 20 years.
Finally, Marshall chief executive, Daksh Gupta (pictured), has been named as the winner of the prestigious BDO British Indian Businessman of the Year award, which covers businesses in all sectors, not just automotive.
Gupta said: ‘This has been a great week for Marshall, both in our retail dealership businesses and also in our leasing company. Both the BVRLA and ACFO are leading bodies in the leasing industry and to have two of our team so closely involved with the senior teams in those organisations is a great honour for Marshall and recognises the skills and experience of both Peter Cakebread and Richard Baird.”
‘I am delighted to have welcomed Stephen Jay to our Mercedes‐Benz and Smart businesses. I am thrilled that we have been able to promote Tim Phillips to brand director of our Honda businesses. At Marshall, we are committed to developing all of our colleagues, including our leaders and future leaders. Promoting from within strengthens our business and opens up career opportunities for high‐achieving colleagues to move up the ladder at Marshall.’
