No stopping customers

Time 7:23 am, December 22, 2010

volkswagen_golfThe appeal of buying a new car for Christmas remains as strong as ever – in spite of the sub-zero weather conditions.

The festive news comes from Motorpoint who says they are experiencing unexpected numbers of customer collections.

Customers are braving the treacherous driving conditions to travel from as far afield as Shropshire and Staffordshire to collect up to £1m worth of cars.

And the car of choice for drivers is the VW Golf followed by the Ford Focus, though there has been a last minute rush for 4x4s – in particular the Chevrolet Captiva, which has sold out completely in the space of a couple of weeks.

John Hood, general manager of Motorpoint Derby: ‘Although this month will go down as one of the worst on record weather wise, customers have been coming out in the droves to buy themselves new cars, in particular 4x4s, which have proved to be hugely popular – not surprising given all of the snow we’ve had of late.’
