#B4B: Mighty Ark Royal

Time 5:13 am, October 10, 2011

img_0844SO now you know – our Bangers4BEN car 2011 isn’t a car at all. It’s a boat. And a very big boat at that.

This year we’ve carried on the military theme we started at last year’s Bangers4BEN rally and have created an homage to HMS Ark Royal.

Being based in Gosport in a former ship builders yard and opposite the home of the Royal Navy in Portsmouth, it was only fitting we turned our S80 into a boat.

And what better one to pay tribute to than the former flagship of the fleet, The Mighty Ark, a ship decommissioned by some heartless Tories just when we needed her most…

To help us with our task we managed to persuade our workplace neighbours to paint it with real warship grey paint, we’ve added a bridge, ski ramp and two harrier jump jets. Oh, and an ensign hanging from the back.

Unfortunately as good as it looks, The Mighty Ark hasn’t been that reliable. You can read all about it here, in this post. Or watch the video of our misadventure here:
