Car Dealer’s Andy drops in to support What Car? fundraising effort

ONE of the UK’s most recognised and trusted brands, What Car?, is celebrating a year of success for its relaunched website and New Car Buying platform by partnering with automotive charity Ben on a UK tour of retailers and manufacturers.

Car Dealer Magazine managing director Andy Entwistle headed down to Hendy Kia in Portsmouth to find out how they were doing and to show off this year’s Bangers4Ben car ahead of our very own event supporting Ben.

The What Car? team has pledged to visit 365 franchised retailers and manufacturers to raise funds for Ben, which provides support for life for people who work, or have worked, in the automotive industry.

In the first two days of this week, 151 dealers have been visited and £1,510 raised towards the target of £3,650.

For every site visited, What Car? will donate £10 to the charity, with the goal of visiting 365 in order to match every day the website has been operating.

Haymarket Automotive managing director Rachael Prasher said: ‘We’ve had a very busy year since the relaunch of our website, building awareness that we both review and recommend cars, and helping our readers buy them through our network of signed-up franchised dealers.

‘We’ve enjoyed exponential growth for our New Car Buying platform, and our position in the market as the most trusted consumer brand has grown as a consequence.

‘We wanted to celebrate that success, and I can think of no better way of doing that than by supporting Ben through our UK tour.’

Entwistle said: ‘With less than three weeks to go until Bangers4Ben takes place, where better to meet and support What Car? in their fundraising efforts than one of Hendy’s great Kia sites?

‘The Portsmouth dealership is part of our Used Car Awards Franchise Group of the Year for 2018, while Kia was last year’s Manufacturer of the Year at Car Dealer Power.’

The What Car? team will continue to travel round the country this week, with another 200 dealers to visit, so if you see them resplendent in their red T-shirts, please dig deep to help them achieve their target.
