UK_“Does_the_maths”_as_Dacia_hands_over_its_10_000th_car_in_just_ten_months_Dacia_47376SMMT will be releasing its September sales figures later this week, but it’s already clear that one brand is performing extremely well.

After selling its ten thousandth vehicle to a UK customer just 10 months after it entered the UK market in January 2013, Dacia has revealed to Car Dealer that it’s sold a further 1,500 cars in the space of just two weeks.

The budget-brand has sold 11,500 cars this year but just two weeks ago, this figure sat at 10,000, proving the boost in sales from September’s new car registrations has had quite an impact.

‘This particular car was sold just two weeks ago and the new owner drove it away the same day,’ said product affairs manager, Mike Gale. ‘Since then, the final figure of Dacia cars sold in the UK sits at 11,500.

‘Obviously Dacia’s new Sandero Stepway and Logan MCV recently went on sale has had an impact on those figures due to customer orders coming in.’

This news follows Dacia’s celebrations of selling its ten thousandth car. The owner of the landmark Dacia, Elma Marshall, is an NHS worker at motherwell Hospital. She collected the keys for her Duster Ambiance 4×4 at Ness Motors, Perth, from the firm’s general manager, John Aitken.

Marshall said: ‘I’d read a lot of things about Dacia on the internet before I went to Ness in Perth, and the fact that Duster was the Scottish Car of the Year also hadn’t escaped my notice. As soon as I sat in it, I loved it.

‘I knew that by investing in even the top specification 4×4, I’d be saving thousands compared to anything else like it. One minute I was trading in a front-wheel-drive petrol Mazda 6, the next I was driving my diesel Dacia Duster 4×4 home.’

Managing director, Renault UK and Ireland, Ken Ramirez, added: ‘I’m over-the-moon that Elma, as well as more than 10,000 other Dacia owners, have recognised the ‘shockingly affordable’ value-for-money of Duster and Sandero in terms of space, practicality and equipment, so far this year.

‘Our Dacia line-up has now been completed with the arrival of Sandero Stepway and Logan MCV, making us the first choice ‘smart buy’ car brand.’
