Dealer group Drive expands MG showroom in Leicester as demand increases

  • Drive Motor Retail has increased the size of its MG site in Leicester
  • £100,000 investment leads to five jobs being created
  • Brand’s EV range said to account for more than a quarter of orders for 2022
  • ZS EV’s affordability cited as drawing people to MG and Drive

Drive Motor Retail has expanded the MG site at its Leicester dealership to meet rising demand for the marque – especially its electric vehicles.

Neil Langley, who has been appointed the new sales manager of Drive Leicester’s MG showroom, said: ‘I’m delighted to join at what is a very exciting time for the MG brand.

‘MG sold five times more cars in 2021 than 2020, so the brand is going from strength to strength, and we have recognised the need to expand our showroom in response to that.


‘MG’s presence in Leicester is now firmly established and I’m excited to build on the reputation Drive Leicester now has as a trusted MG supplier.’

The £100,000 expansion has seen capacity increased by 50 per cent from four cars to six, with five jobs created in the process.

Langley added: ‘The EV range has been creating a lot of inquiries and orders and now makes up over a quarter of the order take for 2022.

‘As more buyers look to move to electric ahead of 2030, I think they are attracted by the affordable price of the ZS EV and that is benefiting MG as a brand and Drive as a supplier.’


The Car Dealer Top 100 company is one of the UK’s largest privately owned automotive retail groups with a turnover of some £250m a year.

It boasts more than 700 employees at 16 dealerships.

The Freemens Common Road site also houses a Vauxhall dealership, and Drive was voted Vauxhall’s European Dealer of the Year in 2019 and had dealerships ranked 1st, 3rd, 4th, 9th and 10th in Vauxhall’s top 170 Scorecard Performance Report 2020.
