volkswagen_golfTHE Volkswagen Golf was the surprise winner in February’s sales tables, SMMT figures reveal.

Sales of VW’s mid-sized hatchback topped more than 2,700 – up from fifth place in January.

The Corsa followed in second with 2,617 sales, while January’s winner, the Ford Focus, dropped to third registering 2,483 cars.


The Ford Fiesta fell to fourth place in February with 2,4,04, while Vauxhall’s Astra amounted 2,036 cars, and the Insignia came in sixth place with 1,842 cars registered.

It was a top month of Vauxhall as the Zafira made a surprising entry number seven with 1,705 sales, the Volkswagen Polo at eight with 1,570, and the Nissan Qashqai in ninth with 1,367.

The Vauxhall Meriva rounded off the top ten with 1,367 cars registered – too.
