Time 5:42 pm, January 15, 2010

land-rover-over-the-worstONE car dealer stepped in to help doctors visit patients as the wintry weather caused chaos last week.

Guy Salmon Land Rover, in Portsmouth lent a team of GPs Land Rovers to help them continue their out of hours service.

The dealership was approached for help by NHS Portsmouth – who originally wanted to hire two 4x4s – but the dealer decided to hand the cars over free of charge instead.

The cars were used to help doctors visit 230 patients. Doctors also used the cars to pick up staff who were unable to get to work.

Alex Matschy, dealer principal, said: ‘As a local business, we believe very strongly in supporting local services.

‘We were happy to get involved and support the great work being carried out by the PCT, GPs and drivers. The recent weather has been fairly testing and we were pleased to help keep these essential public services running.’

Did your dealership do something special to help others put during the recent cold snap? We’d love to hear about it if you did. Get in touch here.
