lewis-hamiltons-oil-supports-studentsTOP car industry aftersales supplier Mobil 1 smoothed Lewis Hamilton’s first World Championship.

Now it has announced support for Sussex University’s entry into the tough Formula Student motor racing competition.

Promoting careers in engineering, the Formula Student competition is a worldwide prize, that sees students design and compete in their own racing car.

Entrants will experience a wide range of disciplines, including:

•    Design
•    Manufacture
•    Team management
•    Marketing
•    PR and finance
•    The pressures of tight timescales
•    Experience of precise regulations and strict specifications

The Mobil 1 Team Sussex guys are designing and building their car right now. They will race it at Silverstone in July.

What’s in it for Mobil? Well, it’s a rich source of engineering talent for the future – particularly given Mobil 1’s strong links with makers like Porsche, Mercedes-Benz and Corvette.

Interestingly, though, the company also says the competition is used in the development of future road car oils.

That’s right, students really are helping out in creating the road car products of the future! An interesting fact for your aftersales department to throw in…

Rupert Bravery, ExxonMobil’s strategic global alliances manager, said: ‘We support many engineering, science and educational initiatives. We are naturally delighted to support the team, through our performance lubricants Mobil 1.

‘We wish them the best of luck with their engineering endeavours.’
