v50-drive

This'll be our home for the next few days...

YOU’LL probably know by now that at Car Dealer Magazine, we like to do things a little differently.

Like features. We love to do mad features – and what we’re doing for Issue 41 is almost certainly up there in terms of mileage and for being just a little bit hair-brained.

Next week we’re heading to the home of Volvo – Gothenburg – and delving deep into this legendary Swedish marque.

We’ll be visiting both Volvo and Polestar’s factories, dropping into Volvo’s famous safety centre, and driving some of the firm’s latest models which will be hitting Volvo dealers sometime soon.

All sounds lovely but not that mad, does it? Well, we turned down the flight home and asked for something a little more road-like.

Volvo replied with this challenge – to drive home. Yes: DRIVE home. From Gotherburg to Gosport. All 1,600km of it.

The car we’ll be doing it in is one of the firms super-eco DRIVe V50s, and we’re going to give ourselves a fuel budget of £100 to get back home.

We’ll be posting updates on here throughout the week and tweeting relentlessly to keep you informed of our progress. And our snapper Dean Smith will be capturing the whole thing for you.

Wish us luck. Or, in Swedish: Önska oss lycka till.
