Police investigate suspicious showroom fire

Time 8:31 am, September 18, 2013

211107-a-ivePOLICE are investigating a suspicious fire at a Watford car showroom which it is believed had been started deliberately.

Watford Cars, on Rickmansworth Road, was set ablaze at around 7pm on Monday. Two fire crews from Watford Fire Station were called to the scene, reported the Watford Observer.

Watch commander, Dave Elliott, told the paper: ‘It looks like someone deliberately set fire to some cardboard rubbish which had been left out for recycling underneath the old carwash.

‘We got there as the fire was getting to the plastic cladding on the carwash. We got there just in time. It could have been a lot more severe. We have handed the investigation over to the police.’

Car Dealer contacted Watford Cars who said the fire was relatively minor but wouldn’t comment further.
