Revamped Autocar Awards sell out at new Silverstone venue

Time 10:00 am, May 4, 2016

THE Autocar Awards will welcome some of the most important figures from the automotive industry at the new, expanded event taking place at Silverstone later this month.

Initial demand was such that the event, to be held immediately after CDX, sold out in rapid time. As a result, it was moved from its original location so it is now being hosted in the largest venue that the glamorous new Wing complex has to offer.

The move means an additional 70 seats were added, and they have continued to be snapped up. There are still limited tickets available for the evening event, however, which are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Appropriately, the venue will host top-level, influential individuals from major car manufacturers from the UK and around the world.

High-ranking representatives from the likes of Ariel, Aston Martin, Audi, Citroën, Ferrari, Ford, Hyundai, Peugeot, Mazda, McLaren, Renault and more are all down to attend, to witness the honouring of the best cars and talent that the automotive industry has to offer.

They will be waiting to see who of them walks away with the prestigious Issigonis Trophy and the Sturmey Award; the two biggest accolades on offer at the Autocar Awards. The winners will be following in the footsteps of the likes of Ron Dennis, and Tesla, both of whom have been honoured by the original and longest-running weekly car magazine, which was founded in 1895.

Alongside the two headline awards, the Readers’ Champion will be crowned, with users of autocar.co.uk having voted for what they consider to be the best car on sale in the UK right now. The cars in contention range from the likes of the Bentley Bentayga and the McLaren 570S, to the Morgan 3Wheeler and the Citroën Grand C4 Picasso.

The winning car will be on display in the room, alongside the victors from Autocar’s exhaustive handling day, as well as the cars that have earned the coveted five-star rating from the expert road test team.
