AN electric Rolls-Royce has stopped off at one of the firm’s Scottish dealers to garner customer opinion.
Edinburgh-based Murray Rolls-Royce welcomed the all-electric concept, the 102EX to its showroom.
The car stopped off at the dealership as part of a whistle-stop tour of the world to garner public opinion.
If the feedback is good, Rolls-Royce may look into producing a luxurious car in the future which does not need to be powered by one its famous 6.75-litre V12 units.
‘It’s a fantastic coup to have the car here,’ Murray Rolls-Royce sales manager Brian Dickson explained. ‘We feel very privileged to have the 102EX here in Scotland and it’s an excellent opportunity for our customer to see the car.
‘The feedback we’ve received has been very positive. Everyone who has driven it is has been very impressed and, to be honest, everybody feels it should be put into production.’
And while Rolls-Royce’s Emily Dungey, who escorted the 102EX up from headquarters at Goodwood in West Sussex, emhasised the car ;will not go into production’, she was delighted by the opportunity to bring the car to Scotland.
‘Murray Rolls-Royce is a very important centre for us,’ she explained, ‘and we always knew it would be important to bring the car to Edinburgh.
‘The response we’ve received from our Rolls-Royce owners in Scotland has been very positive and encouraging. We’ll feed those views into our global research which will help us decide how we progress in deciding on an alternative fuel source for Rolls-Royce cars.’
