SNOWS Group has saved jobs and become the largest motor dealer in Basingstoke into the bargain after taking over collapsed Citroen and Peugeot dealerships in the town.
Following City Motor Holdings going into administration – as reported by Car Dealer last month – the privately owned family company, which has been operating in southern England for more than 50 years, has bought the French marques’ dealerships, re-employing more than 30 former members of the staff and opening the dealerships for business again yesterday.
Snows already had a presence in the Hampshire town with Kia and Volvo, and the latest purchases take its total number of dealerships up to 34. The company, which has showrooms in an area stretching from Plymouth to Guildford, including on the Isle of Wight, now represents 13 marques.
Group board director Neil McCue said: ‘Snows Group representatives have visited the Basingstoke sites several times over recent weeks to ensure that we put our best foot forward for employees and customers alike, and we are pleased to have the opportunity to deliver the group’s expertise to a wider community.
‘This latest acquisition represents a continuation of our key objectives: that is, to increase our network of dealerships across the south and south-west so that we can provide greater choice, and therefore a better experience, to our customers.’
The dealerships will now trade as Snows Citroen, Snows DS and Snows Peugeot, and are on the same Houndmills industrial park as the group’s Kia and Volvo franchises. They will continue to offer the full range of new and used cars, in addition to servicing, parts and assistance for businesses looking to operate a fleet.
