steel-and-dixonSteele-Dixon is celebrating 50 years as a motor trade specialist recruitment company this year.

Launched in 1961, when dealership general managers David Steele and Norman Dixon set up the first ever company to specialise in automotive recruitment, it is now a third generation business.

Edward Steele joining his father Martin in 2005, committing Steele-Dixon to continuity and future change from their base in Abingdon, Oxfordshire.

‘As the automotive industry evolves so will Steele-Dixon, with ‘integrity in recruitment’ as our core value,’ managing director Martin Steele said. ‘We aim to maintain a first class level of customer service, listening to the specific needs and requirements of clients and candidates alike.

‘We were one of the first automotive recruitment companies to operate a regional team for example, and today we have three highly experienced consultants with an extensive network of local contacts and knowledge linked to the head office team – Bill Porteous (Scotland & the North), Graham Hawksworth (East Anglia, Essex & North London) and Neil Timms (Midlands & North West).

‘We are expanding into new markets in the UK, and led by our consultant Allison Garfield, new markets overseas – in particular Africa, Australia, Asia & the Caribbean, where UK best practice is seen as at the forefront of the global automotive industry.’
