SUZUKI has confirmed that its Kizashi Sport ‘D’ segment saloon will be coming to the UK in 2011.
At the firm’s 2011 range launch this week, the company said that 500 units will be coming to the UK this winter for dealers to sell.
The 500 cars will all be the 2.4-litre 4×4 Sport model with CVT-transmission boasting, among other features, seven airbags, 18-inch alloys, electric front seats, full-leather upholstery, and keyless entry.
The only option will be sat-nav, and the car is expected to have a retail price of around £24k.
‘The Kizashi is a good message for the company,’ said Alun Parry, head of press and PR, ‘as it is a ground-up production. We have been in talks with our dealers and they said that the 4×4 CVT version is the right car to bring to the UK instead of the 2WD six-speed manual model. With only 500 units the Kizashi will be a niche car, and the combination of four-wheel-drive and a CVT gearbox suits this.’
But dealers will be responsible for selling the car though, said Parry: ‘There will be no advertising of the car so dealers will have to market the car with local advertising.’
The Kizashi has been on sale since 2009 with Suzuki reporting strong sales in its home market, North America, and Australia with total global sales so far of 10,000.
