Autoplanet goes bust

Time 2:05 pm, October 6, 2011

waters-autoplanetA WATERS Autoplanet insider has confirmed the 22-site dealer group is facing administration.

Last night rumours emerged that the group – which holds franchises for Kia, Renault, Mazda, Peugeot and Seat – was in financial trouble.

Despite our best attempts at contacting the firm we could only get through to a call handling firm, but now we’ve heard more from an inside source.

‘The rumours are true I’m afraid,’ they told us. ‘It came as a bit of a shock, but we knew there were problems.

‘We were told yesterday that the dealerships would be closed for the day and they are closed again today.

‘We’re waiting to hear more information later. There’s a meeting where apparently we’ll hear more details. It’s very worrying.’

As well as franchised sites, Waters Auto Planet also specialises in used cars, running three car supermarkets in London, Maidstone and Southampton.
