MORE than half of people would prefer to deal with their local car dealer when changing their car rather than endure the hassle of selling it themselves.
Latest research from Motors.co.uk shows 58 per cent of drivers would choose to part-exchange their car assuming the sale price for their old vehicle was the same across part-exchange, private sale, instant car buyer or any other option.
Motors.co.uk’s research also found that 34 per cent of consumers would rather sell their car privately.
In order to better connect consumers to their local dealer, Motors.co.uk has launched ‘What’s Mine Worth?’ – a new, trade-in search product on the Motors.co.uk website.
Andy Coulthurst, managing director at Motors.co.uk, said: ‘We created ‘What’s Mine Worth?’ to generate quality sales leads for our advertising dealers. Our research shows that what consumers really want is an easy and reliable way to sell their car. Part-exchanging with a local dealer has proven to be the most popular method of selling, providing the price is fair.
David Hearns, product director at Motors.co.uk, added: ‘Over the past few years, we have noticed a growth in consumer car buying services, which has seen site users leave classified and dealer sites to value their car elsewhere.
‘The product also provides another way for dealers to engage with in-market car buyers in their area and opens communication channels earlier in the buying cycle – perfect for connecting local consumers and dealers.’
