Time 9:48 am, October 30, 2008

DAKSH Gupta has been appointed chief executive of Marshall Motor Group.

The 38-year-old former group managing director of Ridgeway Group starts at Marshall on 1 November.

He is excited by his new challenge. ‘There is no question in my mind that this is one of the best jobs in the retail automotive industry, and I look forward to helping Marshall achieve the substantial growth opportunities which clearly exist for this company.

‘The company has a strong pedigree and history, and to be leading the business into a new era is hugely exciting. Marshall and I are very much aligned with our core values, we understand the importance of relationships, which I am committed to maintaining and developing.’

What qualities does he bring? Executive chairman Robert Marshall explained: ‘Daksh is a very high energy individual with unique leadership qualities. I am really looking forward to working with him to strengthen and grow our business.’

He’s joining at a period of change, added Marshall – not only for the business, but for the industry as a whole. ‘Our industry is changing, our customers’ needs are changing and we need to adapt our business to make the most of the opportunities that are emerging.

‘Companies which adapt will emerge from the current challenging trading environment stronger and more focused on their customers.’
