ASTON Barclay has opened its new Donington Park Mega Centre with a 250-car launch sale.
The 18-acre site, which aims to double the company’s sales to 160,000 cars over the next five years, was opened yesterday by Andrew Bridgen, the Conservative MP for North-West Leicestershire.
Vendors such as Zenith, MotoNovo Finance, PSA, Motability, Hertz, Activa Contracts and Moneyway put more than 250 used cars up for sale in front of more than 150 prospective buyers at the launch event.
Locally born TV presenter and radio DJ Sian Welby auctioned the first lot of the day and helped drive cars through the halls.
The new flagship site has indoor accommodation space for 400 cars. Its two glass partitioned halls allow two auctions to take place at the same time.
The launch sale was the first in a series of fleet sales, with one taking place every Thursday at 10am. A dealer sale will launch on October 17, with one happening every Tuesday, again at 10am.
Neil Hodson, chief executive of Aston Barclay, said: ‘Our vision for the group and Donington in particular from the outset was to introduce a range of new digital technologies that were going to make the remarketing experience more interactive and bridge the gap between the physical hall and the mobile space for both buyers and sellers, all supported by a first-class team.
‘Buyers and vendors have responded very positively to the new technologies, and there is still much more to come which will further integrate the buying and selling community.
‘Donington has a first-class team in place and overall we have appointed 50 new colleagues across the group since May so we are moving into 2018 in very good shape.’
