Stealing for charity

Time 10:05 am, November 5, 2008

MITSUBISHI dealer SMC of Sittingbourne wants people to try and steal one of its cars.

There’s a Colt on offer for anyone who’s able to ‘crack the code’ of a safe containing the keys… and it’s all in the name of charity.

The BBC’s Children in Need appeal will be the beneficiary, of all those paying to enter the unique competition.

And those who are not suitably light-fingered enough? Well, they’ll still get a shot behind the wheel: ingeniously, the dealer’s giving runners-up prizes of drives in the newly-facelifted supermini.

What a way, we reckon, to mark the launch of the new range – which are fresh off the boat and on sale soon.

Sittingbourne’s Sainsbury’s branch will play host to the cars – and the dramatic competition! – on 12th, 13th and 14th November. Sittingbourne is hoping to make a big contribution to the appeal, which last year raised over £37 million.
