Dealerships and garages across the country have been helping health workers by donating disposable car seat covers to cut the threat of infection.
Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, which delivers health services for more than 630,000 people across south Wales, put out a Twitter plea on behalf of its frontline district nurses and community team and was met with an overwhelming response:

Kwik Fit centres nationwide have been a port of call to collect covers – and immense gratitude:
Simon Bailes Peugeot has donated thousands of covers to NHS workers, giving them to a team of community midwives at Darlington Memorial Hospital as well as staff at The Friarage Hospital, Northallerton, plus Rockliffe Court Surgery in Hurworth, Norton Medical Centre in Stockton, Mowbray House Surgery in Northallerton, Carmel Medical Practice in Darlington and St George Medical Practice in Middleton St George.
A further batch of covers was given to North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust’s district nursing teams in Stockton, Hartlepool and Billingham.
Simon Bailes said: ‘I’m pleased to be able to support these essential medical staff as they go about their daily work. Our dealerships in Stockton, Northallerton and Guisborough had plenty of disposable seat covers and we are pleased to put them to good use by supporting our magnificent NHS medical staff.’
And as reported by Car Dealer, Shane Enright, the boss of Telford-based S E Motors, has been giving away hundreds of covers to care homes.
