25.03.10: Loving the Auto Trader iPhone App

Time 3:56 am, March 26, 2010

photoTHIS week I have been mostly using… Auto Trader mobile app!

I love my iPhone, and all the things it can do. The other day I even dialled a number and then spoke to someone, live! I mean, how good is that! Sarcasm.

Anyway, you see the thing is, mobile phones these days have been caught up in a battle to offer the user everything over and above just straight forward calling. Take the iPhone, I have a fish on it that I need to feed every day, a guitar I can play, an annoying hamster that copies everything I say and even a lightsaber.

Do I really need any of these things? No, of course I don’t. But, use the app store wisely, and you will be rewarded with a couple of brilliant new offerings.

Firstly, Car Dealer Magazines’ own, Car Dealer App. This will keep you up to date with all the latest news in the motor trade, our road tests, videos and features. All for just 59p!

But this isn’t about punting our App again, what I really want to talk about is the new Auto Trader Mobile App. I am currently looking to change my car, so, I thought I would give it a go.

HOW GOOD?

My word it’s good! It’s not just a scaled down version of the website, but a really useful and easy to use method of finding a new or used car.

One feature that I like is being able to save your viewed listings in your ‘Garage’. As I change my mind about cars quicker than my local football team changes owners, this is great.

I can compare lots of cars, colours, specs, prices and distance away from me. As a consumer, I found this App fast, easy and very useable.

And I’m off to look at some this weekend as a result of the App. How many prospects do you call every day and get ‘I can’t talk now’ or ‘Can I call you back’. These people are busy, working, living, loving and… buying?

I have no doubt that there will be a massive number of people using this tool in the five minutes they have free during the day. And as a dealer you’d be mad to miss out.

If you’re not up to speed with the media and tools that are available to the consumers buying your cars, then you WILL miss out!
