Time 1:53 am, December 11, 2010

mini_countrymanBMW Group UK has bucked November’s poor sales figures by reporting a rise of 12.3 per cent in sales.

The group sold 13,079 vehicles in November 2010 – increasing from 11,644 in the same month last year -despite November seeing new car registrations again falling.

Sales increase in the first 11 months of 2010 were also up to 141,165 vehicles – a rise of 11.3 per cent over the first 11 months of 2009.

‘We have seen a strong sales performance from BMW Group in the UK this year and, with sales passing the 100,000 mark, BMW is on track to secure its position as the UK’s leading premium brand for the year,’ said Tim Abbott, managing director of BMW Group UK.

‘Both BMW and Mini brands have outperformed the market year to date and this is being driven by the 3 Series which became the UK’s sixth best-selling car in November and the new 5 Series saloon models.

‘The Mini Countryman is sold out until next spring and demand is already looking very high for the newly-launched 5 Series Touring and X3.’

Year to date MINI is the ninth best-selling car in the UK with sales of 39,120 vehicles – an increase of more than eight per cent compared to the same period in 2009.
