Time 10:41 pm, March 20, 2011

1yr-10l-auction-landmarkA ‘CONTINUED shortage’ of used cars has pushed the average used car price up by eight per cent says Auction4Cars.

New figures from the fee-free car auction website revealed prices had increased to £3,257 last month.

However the auction firm is experiencing quite the opposite. The website is currently selling over 400 cars a week, with traffic to the site up 29.7 per cent during the first three months of 2011 compared to the same period last year.

Neil Prescott, group disposal manager at Motorpoint, said: ‘Although the trend has been upwards since the New Year we expect prices to level off in the near future.’
