THE boss of a top Mitsubishi dealership in Dundee is taking to the streets of Paris in a marathon effort to raise money for disabled children.

At the beginning of the year, Tim Hancock set about finding a personal challenge for which there wasn’t long to prepare, with the Paris Marathon proving to be the best option.

And this coming Sunday, he will be enduring a predicted temperature of 22 degrees Centigrade (72 degrees Fahrenheit) while pounding 26 miles and 385 yards (42.2 km) around the French capital to raise £2,000 for Whizz-Kidz – a charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for disabled children and young people in the UK.

Tim, who is the director at Autoecosse in Kingsway East, which was named runner-up in the New Dealer of the Year category at this year’s annual conference for UK Mitsubishi dealers, said: ‘Whizz-Kidz is a fantastic charity that doesn’t really have a big profile but it does amazing work by providing mobility equipment for kids who need help to lead confident, independent lives.

‘I’ve been training steadily – but not enough! – and I hope to complete the marathon in a respectable time for someone who doesn’t run! I’m sure, though, that Whizz-Kidz’ great help for kids with mobility issues will spur me on at times of need during the marathon.’

Autoecosse is a keen supporter of sport, having sponsored Cricket Scotland on its journey to this year’s Cricket World Cup.
