Renault dealers to sell EVs

Time 11:15 pm, January 4, 2012

twizyALL remaining Renault dealers will get the chance to sell the firm’s ballooning range of EVs from 2013.

The French manufacturer is gearing up its EV launches this year which will see four electric models join its recently-decimated range – launches include the Twizy, Fluence, Kangoo ZE and Zoe.

Just days before Christmas, Renault announced it would be slashing its product range and slashing its dealer network from 195 sites to 135.

But now the firm’s UK public relations boss has told Car Dealer that ‘it’s not all bad news’.

During a visit to our offices he explained: ‘Currently we have 20 dealers selling the Kangoo ZE, our first electric model. But by 2013 all remaining dealers will be EV retailers.

‘We will also be introducing Dacia at the end of this year and all dealers will be selling these too.’

Alliance partner Nissan has chosen to sell its electric models via a specific network of EV specialists, so the news all Renault dealers will get to sell EVs will come as a boost to those dealers who have escaped the chop.
