AUDI Approved Newton Abbot has been closed by the firm, effective from today.

The dealership, which is part of Audi South West Group, was formed at the merger of two local companies in 2006 – Hanjo Russell Ltd and  Silver Street Motors. As from today though, the dealership – specialising in used models – will be closed, suggesting that doing so will help the group develop their other centres instead.

Previous customers were issued a letter earlier this week informing them of the closure, and suggesting that two of the group’s other dealerships – in Exeter and Plymouth – would be best placed to handle further servicing and sales requests.

‘In line with Audi’s 2020 ambition, we will be developing our Audi Centres in both Plymouth and Exeter to enable us to showcase these products in the right environment, whilst delivering improved levels of  customer satisfaction.’

‘With this in mind, we have taken the difficult decisionto close our Audi Approved Newton Abbot Centre, and concentrate on delivering great service from the two main Centres.’

‘We will ensure that this transfer will be as seamless as possible. For those of you that have current service bookings or enquries with Newton Abbot, we will be in contact with you shortly to make suitable arrangements with you to transfer to the Centre of your choice.’

It’s not understood when the decision to close the dealership was taken, but Car Dealer understands that plans to pair down the dealer’s stock levels were already underway last week – with a cache of the site’s Auto Trader offerings, dated last Monday, revealing that just 11 models were on site.
