BMW has released full details and pictures of its 6 Series Convertible four-seat grand tourer.
The German marque says the new convertible embodies BMW ‘s design language ‘more than any other BMW’.
With that the new 6 features a set-back passenger compartment, the trademark Hofmeister kink, long wheelbase and flat waistline.
One feature BMW is especially proud of is the new car’s roof – it ’embodies a distinctive “fin” architecture’.
Two petrol engines are available – BMW’s familiar 407bhp 4.4-litre
eight-cylinder engine in the 650i Convertible, and the 320bhp 3.0-litre in the entry-level 640i. Both versions are limited to 155mph, with the 650i getting to 62mph in 5.0 seconds; 0.7 seconds quicker than the 640i.
Specifications have also been released meaning that both feature leather upholstery,
eight-speed Sport automatic transmission, electric seat adjustment, BMW Professional Multimedia Navigation system, Xenon headlights, LED front fog lights and front and rear Park Distance Control.
While the 640i boasts 18-inch alloy wheels as standard, the 650i Convertible comes as with 19-inch alloy wheels.
The new car goes on sale in the UK on 26 March 2011. Prices will be announced at a later date.
