Car dealer to invest £1m in showroom re-fit

Time 11:34 am, June 18, 2013

BMW Z4ABERDEEN-based John Clark Motor Group dealership is investing £1 million to upgrade its facilities in preparation for the launch of the BMW i electric car range.

According to Business Insider, extensions to the flagship BMW dealership are expected to launch later this year and will be in order to dedicate an entire section of the dealer’s showroom to BMW’s electric i3 city car and i8 sports car.

The new showroom will house 21 cars, and will also feature a new customer lounge alongside upgraded service reception facilities.

In order to make room for the new extension, the John Clark Mini dealership will be relocated. A brand-new purpose-built Mini complex is set for development in 2014, but in the meantime, it will be moved to a new premise on Aberdeen’s Craigshaw Drive.

According to the John Clark Motor Group, these developments will create 15 new immediate jobs and more as business develops.

Chairman and managing director of the John Clark Motor Group, John Clark told Business Insider: ‘It is more than 36 years since I established John Clark BMW as my first solus franchised motor trade business.

‘Since then we have grown into a group with eight motor businesses in Aberdeen and a total of 20 across the East of Scotland.

Clark added: ‘As the largest and most established group operating in the premium car market in the Aberdeen area, the local market is hugely important for us.

‘The BMW and Mini refurbishment represents a further £1 million investment in our Aberdeen dealerships, with additional substantial investment programmed for the second half of 2013 and 2014.’
