BEACONSFIELD dealer Hughes hosted a special Formula 1-inspired evening last week, with one famous speaker.
Hughes of Beaconsfield welcomed the Team Principal of the Mercedes GP Petronas Formula One Team Ross Brawn OBE (right in picture), to their Buckinghamshire-based dealership.
Formula One fans mingled with company directors and local celebrities to hear from the Mercedes GP team principal about his career in the sport – right from his first F1 job as a machinist at Williams to managing his own team.
The night raised £4,360 for Skidz Motor Project which, since its creation in 1998, has helped more than 7,850 young people gain invaluable vocational skills in motor mechanics. Ross Brawn was also there in his role of Patron of the project.
Geoff Williams managing director of The Hughes Group said: ‘We were honoured to have Ross Brawn in our showroom sharing with us his remarkable career with the audience, and delighted to be able to help raise such a substantial amount for Skidz.
‘We have been able to see first hand the important role Skidz plays in developing young people for the world of work as we are lucky enough to employ a former Skidz Motor Project course attendee who is proving to be a valuable member of the Hughes Group team.’
