VOLVO has shown off its Concept XC Coupe at this week’s Detroit Motor Show.
It’s the second concept to have appeared from the Scandinavian manufacturer’s design studios in the last 12 months – this concept follow’s last year’s beautiful Concept Coupe.
With beefed-up styling, the Concept XC Coupe gives the strongest hints yet of how the forthcoming XC90 could look.
Thomas Ingenlath, senior vice president design of Volvo Car Group, believes the car is aimed at ‘those who love extreme sports and freely seek new thrills and challenges.’
Of more important note though is the fact that the concept uses Volvo’s new Scalable Product Architecture – a platform which will be used for a multitude of different Volvos in the near future.
The two-door, four-seater concept shares many of its design elements with the Concept Coupe model but larger 21-inch alloys, extenuated wheel arches and more robust bodywork hint at the off-road capabilities.
