SEVERAL cars have been destroyed at a showroom fire in Grays, just weeks after 10 of its cars were destroyed in a similar incident.
Based at Glebe Industrial Estate on Towers Road, the blaze at Mini and Acy Exports Ltd is the second time the showroom has been attacked in just a matter of weeks, after it was last targeted on December 17.
Fire crews attended the scene shortly before 3.30am, where they found several vehicles fully alight. Police have confirmed that six vehicles were damaged in the blaze.
According to the Thurrock Gazette, the fire fighters managed to extinguish the fire by 4.03am. Police are now liaising with the fire service over the cause of both incidents and believe them to be linked.
Detective sergeant Jim Adam of Grays CID, told the newspaper: ‘We would like to try and establish whether there could be any reason behind these attacks. Also we would be particularly interested to hear from anyone who may know someone that may have come home smelling of petrol or smoke in the early hours of the morning.’
Police are asking anyone with information to contact Grays CID or Crimestoppers anonymously.
