Heat wave proves good news for convertible sales

Time 8:50 am, July 18, 2013

BMW ConvertibleTHE predicted heat wave set to last the entire summer has increased the demand for convertibles by 37 per cent, according to Motors.co.uk.

The UK’s second-largest used car classified website reported a spike in search traffic for convertibles over the past two weeks, showing a 37 per cent rise since the end of June.

These figures go hand-in-hand with an increase in total traffic to the Motors.co.uk network, which now offers more than 200,000 vehicles for sale.

Managing director of Motors.co.uk, Andy Coulthurst said: ‘While May was the strongest month for convertible searches, we had started to see a decline through June which is a normal seasonal trend.

‘However, the current high temperatures and predictions for a summer of sun are good news for those dealers who got in early and bought up the high quality convertible stock while prices were lower.’

He added: ‘As the good weather continues, we expect to see search traffic for convertibles increase further and dealers with something a little bit different or quirky on their forecourts could see some very strong interest from the consumer market.

‘Indeed, the top five convertibles searched on the network this week have included the BMW 3-Series, Saab 9-3, VW Beetle, Audi A3 and Audi A4.”
