JCT600 has opened a brand new ‘green’ Audi showroom in York, marking the completion of the firm’s £6.2m investment into the redevelopment of the dealership premises.
The work on the Audi showroom, based at Centurion Park on Clifton Way, was carried out by Sheffield-based BDB Design Build Ltd. The £2.5m showroom took nine months to complete and has been designed to be as ‘green’ and energy efficient as possible.
The dealership has a number of technology features including an in-house energy management system, a weather station that automatically controls the window blinds and the roof is almost entirely covered in solar panels to generate its own electricity.
In addition, the building also features the first two-storey used car deck to be built in Yorkshire, capable of displaying up to 60 vehicles, while also providing a convenient weather proof drop-off and parking area for customers below.
The total £6.2m redevelopment comprises the 17-car showroom, the nearby 60-car aftersales building, as well as a workshop with space for 20 cars, a large valeting department and a compound facility.
Mark Taylor, group property director at JCT600, said: ‘This fantastic new facility is already proving a huge hit with customers. Not only is it far more spacious but it incorporates Audi’s latest innovative ‘Terminal Architecture’ design featuring striking exterior perforated aluminum panels, which give a real wow factor.
‘As well as its high tech look, the building is the most eco friendly ‘green’ project we have ever undertaken. We are delighted that it has not only achieved a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating, but also an energy performance certificate grade A.’
