KIA Motors has announced another new car to join the family – the much-awaited next generation Rio.
The new Rio features ‘its own interpretation of Kia’s signature grille’ giving a ‘twist’ to Kia’s now familiar look, and will be available in both three and five door versions.
Meanwhile, the high-quality look continues on the inside, with Kia promising a wide selection of trim options.
Kia’s B-segment contender will be offered with an range of the latest petrol and diesel engines designed with fuel-efficiency and low emissions in mind. The Rio will also be fitted with an all-new, high-performance 1.2-litre turbo gasoline direct injection (GDI) which will be available from 2012.
Soon-Nam Lee, director of overseas marketing, Kia Motors Corporation, said: ‘This new model is a big step forward. The Rio has always been successful, and with this new incarnation we have a car that people will want to buy for its looks.’
Since its launch in 2005, global sales of the current-generation Rio have totalled more than 860,000 units; 52,626 of which were sold in the UK.
The new Rio will be unveiled at the Geneva motorshow alongside the all-new Picanto.
