Kia top chief: UK is vital to our business

Time 8:38 am, November 13, 2013

BR3V2833ONE of Kia’s biggest cheeses has sent a heartfelt thank you to its UK operation and praised the network’s hard work.

Thomas Oh, executive vice president and COO International Business Division, not only has one of the longest job titles in the world but also a great love for the brand’s UK team.

Speaking to Car Dealer at the firm’s South Korean head office, he said: ‘We have two very important markets globally, one is the US and the second is Western Europe.

‘We sell 340,000 cars in Europe and out of the markets we are in there which is performing the best? The UK is.

‘The UK is outperforming Germany despite the car market being around a million cars smaller. That’s why our business plans favour the UK market and we’re very proud of their achievement.’

Mr Oh, who spoke passionately about the UK operation, had a big smile on his face as we quizzed him about the importance of our market to the global car maker.

He added: ‘We are so proud of the UK. The way they do service, sales, marketing and digital marketing, are all leading our European operations. They deserve a thanks and our support.’

Mr Oh also specifically singled out the dealer network and its salesmen for praise and that endorsement, from one of the most senior members of the Kia management team, will certainly please a few people back at the marque’s UK head office.
