LA Show: Porsche aims to build 50,000 Macans a year

9b0e40ca-c5e0-4400-9633-e56b356f9575PORSCHE is aiming high with its new Macan SUV and plans to build 50,000 of them a year.

Unveiled at the LA Auto Show, the new baby Porsche SUV will be built at Porsche’s Leipzig plant – a facility that the German car company has recently invested 500m Euro.

And being the fifth model line in the German company’s range, the new car is primarily aimed at conquest buyers after a sporty and fashionable SUV. Chief rivals will be the Range Rover Evoque, Audi Q3 and BMW X3.


90d4aacc-8f83-4700-b444-18ec48e05922Three models will be initially on sale in the UK – Macan S at £43,300; Macan S Diesel at £43,300 while the range-topping Macan Turbo will cost £59,300.

Powering the Macan S will be a 3.0-litre V6, a 3.0-litre V6 diesel will be on offer in the Macan Diesel and a 394bhp twin-turbo 3.6-litre V6 will be reserved for the Macan Turbo.

Order books are open now with first customer deliveries expected from April 2014.
