66266citLEADING online used car trading network Autotrade-mail has reported a 25 per cent increase in the number of ex-fleet and leasing vehicles offered to its subscribers.

The total number of ex-fleet and leasing vehicles offered to the firm’s network of 5,000 franchised and independent dealers, was up from 2,750 in 2011 to 3,450 last year.

Autotrade-mail also found that in the past 12 months, average mileage has decreased from 41,373 down to 36,235 while average price has increased from £13,066 to £14,934. The top five brands offered in 2012 were Volkswagen, Ford, BMW, Vauxhall and Audi.

The ex-fleet vehicles were offered predominantly by small to medium sized leasing companies and several of the major car rental operators.

Kevin Watson, operations director at Autotrade-mail, said: ‘The significant growth in the number of ex-fleet vehicles we are now remarketing is reflective of the consistent value that we are able to offer these fleet customers.

‘Although still a small number compared with our total offering, the 25 per cent increase in volume in just 12 months is a clear indication that the advantage of using an online trading network is becoming recognised within the industry.’
