OLYMPIC medal-winning equestrian Pippa Funnell has told how she is looking forward to driving her new SsangYong Rexton Ultimate as brand ambassador for the marque.
Using the vehicle will help Funnell, pictured, advertise the South Korean 4×4 and SUV manufacturer at as many events as possible.
Nick Laird, managing director of SsangYong Motor UK, said: ‘We are absolutely delighted to have Pippa as one of our brand ambassadors.
‘As a manufacturer of authentic four-wheel-drive vehicles noted for their off-road and towing capabilities, we value the equestrian market audience enormously and are privileged to be working with a horsewoman of Pippa’s standing.’
Funnell, 49, who won Olympic team silver in 2000 and 2004 as well as an individual bronze in 2004, said: ‘I am really excited about driving the new Rexton and delighted to be continuing my relationship with SsangYong.
‘In the equestrian world, it is essential to have a reliable four-wheel-drive vehicle that’s capable of towing a large horse trailer or work trailer loaded with heavy jumps around the farm, and to get me to events, often in wet, muddy conditions.
‘I drove the previous Rexton for over 18 months and it excelled in all areas of my equestrian life. I’m really looking forward to driving this new model, especially having read so many great reports.’
Funnell – who in 2003 became the first person to win the Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing – was made an MBE in 2005 for services to equestrian sport.
