SSANGYONG has set up two new dealerships in Scotland as it attempts to expand its influence in the region.
Frasers of Edinburgh, which is already Scotland’s largest SsangYong dealer with its successful base in Falkirk, is the dealer group’s second showroom, having been associated with the South Korean brand for three years.
Meanwhile, Lawrence of Kemnay in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire is a new addition to the SsangYong family and will act as some friendly competition for the already well-established Frasers.
Andrew Dickson, director and dealer principal of Frasers, commented: ‘The decision was an easy one to make. While it’s quite a commitment to take on a new franchise in a capital city, we have a proven track record with SsangYong. We know what we can do with the range and want to grow our customer base and expand.
‘SsangYong offers great value for money and has a superb product line-up – it covers a lot of bases. Already awarded “4×4 of the Year”, the Rexton is exceptionally good-value in comparison to what else is on the market, while the Tivoli is in a very popular segment of the market; it is well-priced and with a fantastic warranty to back it up.
‘We also have the new Musso pick-up to look forward to, while the Korando has an exceptionally good reputation within the caravanning fraternity and we get a huge amount of repeat business. Winning Towcar of the Year was huge!’
Gavin Chalmers, dealer principal of Lawrence of Kemnay, said: ‘We are very pleased to have taken on the SsangYong franchise, and greatly look forward to growing our business as a result.
‘SsangYong has a great range, and with very competitive pricing and a five-year limitless mileage warranty on every car, we believe it will do extremely well in Aberdeenshire.’
Nick Laird, managing director of SsangYong Motor UK, added: ‘We and our dealers are focused on giving customers great service, and clearly that is what Frasers have achieved in Falkirk.
‘Value for money brands have historically done extremely well in Scotland, and we are delighted Frasers have decided to expand into Edinburgh, and also very pleased to now have Lawrence of Kemnay representing us further north in Inverurie; they have huge local presence and a long history of retailing.’
