WE left you on Friday with news that our two MX-5s had passed their MOTs and all that was needed was a good polish.
The cars have been bought as part of our 911 for 2011 quest – an attempt to turn £0 into a Porsche by (sometime in) 2011 in aid of automotive industry charity BEN.
Matt Kendell of Whites Motors, Portsmouth, has worked flat out to get the the two Mazdas through their MOTs. And with some kind help from Unipart, the little ‘uns have now been serviced and are running like a dream.
Yesterday Autoglym stepped up to the mark and dispatched expert Karl Heath – seen working above – to get our cars back to showroom fresh condition.
With a van full of Autoglym products Karl spent the day at Whites Motors getting the MX-5s looking tip-top.
In the morning Karl wasn’t hopeful the MX-5s would come up ‘like new’ – the paint was seriously faded on both our 20-year-old classics.
But after a day’s hard graft and hours of flat-out buffing, sanding, polishing and cleaning, the MX-5s are all done and look… well… brand new.
We hope to have the Mazdas up for sale within a week. We’re just waiting for the tax to arrive for both of them – a hefty £205 for 12 months on each!
Then we plan to list one on eBay and the other on Auto Trader – and see which one sells first! Look out for a full report on how Autoglym got our cars looking so good in the next issue of Car Dealer.
